Quite an answer by the Dodgers last night. Zack's now 10-0 against the AL West.

Squeaking out a win in Coors last night, while the Giants lost at home, Dodgers crept back into first by half a game on the Fourth of July.

Actually, they rushed there, winning seven of their last 10 while the Giants lost eight out of ten.

Dodgers have a +48 run differential, Giants +26.

Both teams are 13-13 in one-run games.

Giants are 6-2 in extra innings, Dodgers are 3-8.

Gritty Giants, spineless Dodgers.

Just kidding. In reality, another reason to expect the Dodgers to run away with it.

At least they gave Walter Johnson ten days off after he pitched 18 innings on May 15. Both games were shutouts.

Walter Johnson Game Log for 1918 ... his best ERA year that has game logs avail (no game logs for 1913 when his ERA was 1.14) ... ERA for 1918 was 1.27 ... he pitched a lot in relief??? ... looks like longest stretch of 2-or-fewer ERs was 7 ...

Bob Gibson Game Log for 1968 ... gave up >2 ERs in 7 starts! I'm very surprised by that ... that's a lot of goose eggs on other days! Longest stretch of 2-or-fewer ERs appears to be 11 starts ...
