We TIED in the FAAB for him in May, I think -- but the other team was behind us in the standings.

Tomorrrow we turn the page. Such gems as my $1 bid for Whit Merrifield will be archived.
Thirty-four stolen bases? Nineteen homers? Are you kidding me?

I'm kicking myself. I was all over Merrifield in 2016, but this year I put him a tick behind Cuthbert, which meant I didn't take him in the reserve round. Age was an issue, so was Mondesi, but part of what matters was he's a solid player with a history of steals. No one expected the homers, except maybe MLB's labs. But drafting talent over roles isn't a bad approach.

Who's is more unexpected and out of nowhere....Merrifield or Chris Taylor?
Playing in a pitcher's park he's been much better at home. Is it total randomness? Feeds off the home crowd? Something else?

Two more hits, one of them out of play, and his 26th stolen base.
The steals maybe. That's in the resume.
The homers?

4 more hits last night and another SB.
He has been roto gold this year. Mondesi, Jr. might not be the future at 2B for KC.

I had an interesting discussion with the owner who just dealt for Whit Merrifield as a keeper for $3. I asked him why he didn't make the same offer for Marwin Gonzalez $4. He told me Marwin seemed old. I asked him to look them up. Marwin has been growing through this year: $4, $8, $12, $14, $19+. Meanwhile Merrifield spent those early years in the minors and now has earned $10, $21+. Other than guaranteed position versus utility, I see them as the same value for next year. Both should put up $15 of stats. But, qualifying at 1B, SS, OF, maybe 3B should be a big plus for Marwin. The steals are the big positive for Merrifield.

Another righty batter who found the right field seats in Yankee Stadium well within reach last night. (The other being Hicks.)
