Just came back from 3-0 to fan Jeffers in the afternoon game. I'm going to time him between pitches next inning. A pleasure to watch someone follow the Ray Miller recipe.

Thus only two more no-nos in 1917?

A friend writes,  "The record for no hitters in one MLB season is 7. After Wade Miley tonight, there have already  been 4  this year in little over a month."

With all the swings and misses, the true rarity these days is a a Maddux. Smiley threw 114 pitches.

Miley goes down to his first defeat, and in fact gives up his first runs, in a 6-3 loss to the Indians.

After 20 games, it's AL 10 - NL 10.

NL has outscored the AL, 93-83.

Flip side of the coin from Nate Jones: excellent Hard Hit%, terrible LD%.

Wade Miley (P) CIN - Feb. 09

https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=762777

When describing the Reds rotation in advance of spring training, Reds GM Nick Krall considered Miley the fourth starter, with there being a competition between Michael Lorenzen, Tejay Antone, José De León and Jeff Hoffman for the fifth starter's job, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. "Right now, Luis (Castillo), Sonny (Gray) and Tyler Mahle are probably the first three starters," Krall said. "And then you've got Wade Miley, who has been a starter his whole career."

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Miley might have a head start over those other starters, and that he hasn't been a reliever much in his career probably helps, but he'll have to perform right away to hold them off. He's coming off of a season ruined by multiple injuries.
