Totally seems reasonable, Peter, given his past history.

I'm working on Big Prices for the Guide. Today I have Wade Miley with a price of $3. What do you think?

It was planned. He did something similar to the Cardinals at the end of September.

He also started a lefty reliever for one game just to get Carpentar out.

That part worked pretty well. My biggest concern as a Brewers fan is that the Brewers' hitters are playing like a club that is just happy to be here. And those clubs lose.

So Counsell bluffs with Wade Miley for one batter and then sends in a RH pitcher after the Dodgers stack their lineup with righties.

That's either all colors of brilliant or a classic overthinking. The purists are hoping it backfires but it has to give an opposing manager some pause.

Either that or Miley was hurt and I'm giving the Brewers too much credit.

Improved cutter and solid spring got him on a roster. Look no further than the insane drop in BABIP the last 2 years.

How did Wade Miley make an MLB roster after 2017, never mind a playoff team?  Was it as simple as deciding to pitch to contact and getting lucky with dingers?

Lowers his ERA to 2.08, his WHIP to 1.18 and -- this is really amazing -- his Rating to 1.07 with five more scoreless innings yesterday. In three September starts, he's 3-0 with a 1.69 ERA.

Another solid game for Miley and this time he gets the W. Easily. An 11-1 pasting of the Cubs. Brew Crew pulls to within three, is in good shape for the wild card.

37,000 in Miller Park.

Lost the W in the 7th but continues to pitch astonishingly well. Has allowed two earned runs or fewer in eight of his starts, gave up three and four in his other two. His primary pitch is a cutter that's a little slower than average and has a slightly below average spin rate. But its exit below is well below average and that's what counts. Especially when they're grounders.

Oustanding sixth start. No runs, four baserunners, five punchouts in seven innings.

It will normalize.
