Players who earn $18 the year before are never sleepers the following year.

Even people who don't know a Patton dollar from a Schrute buck have some idea of what Choo earned in 2008.

That's the problem.

Look closely at the numbers; check out what NeauxBrainer, a serious Indians fan, had to say about Choo in September; don't even kid yourself he's going to be a sleeper next year.

More to Choo on, from information provided by Paul Hoynes of The Plain Dealer: When Choo came to bat in the 8th inning on Friday night against Detroit, with two on and the Indians down 5-2, there was more than a ballgame riding on the at-bat. Wedge has said if Choo wants to be a fulltime player in 09, he will have to hit lefties, at important moments. Detroit brought in lefty Fossum. And Choo was ready, having practiced by facing 100 Fossum-like lefty sliders from the batting machine at the ballpark. Fossum's slider ended up in the right field seats, 5-5.

A hitting machine, and walking man, since mid-July. One of Cleveland's better trades in the past two years. Now that his elbow injury is behind him (or beside him), Shin-Soo is getting bolder at the plate. Last night, after two solid basehits, he came up in the 8th and crushed an ordinary pitch from an ordinary pitcher. He is making a case to start for Cleveland in 2009.
