Ryan trade is #1 on Mets list, Otis trade #3.

The O's trade wouldn't even be on the list, much less #1 if they hadn't made the 6th most lopsided trade of all time in their favor getting Schilling and Brady Anderson for Mike Boddicker.

What about the Nolan Ryan trade (or even Amos Otis), asks the Mets fan?

We need a DANSBY SWANSON page.  He has stats and is on the Braves and was the #1 overall pick last season.

Here is his baseball reference information.

In 2009 a book was published titled Traded: Inside the Most Lopsided Trades in Baseball History and Bill James Win Shares accumulated after a trade was used in ranking them.

They rated Finley, Schilling, and Harnisch(621 future Win Shares combined) for Glenn Davis(12 future WS). as the most lopsided trade since the start of the 20th century.

Good call Slyke; they list the one you mentioned as the worst in Pirates history.

The worst all time for the Reds was Christy Mathewson for Amos Rusie.

Have to add my Pirates here....

Willie Randolph, Dock Ellis and Ken Brett for Doc Medich.

Ugh.

Then we flipped Medich, Tony Armas, Mitchell Page and Rick Langford for Phil Garner the following off-season.

At least Scraps helped us win our last title in 1979.

Gaylord Perry for Sam McDowell.

George Foster for Frank Duffy.

Those are just the Giants' trades while I was in high school.

Have to include my Mets in this one.

Amos Otis for Joe Foy.

Nolan Ryan, LeRoy Stanton (a top prospect at the time) and two others for Jim Fregosi.
