Best season ever for a guy waived and claimed?

As one Red's blogger said the other day.  "It looks like extended Spring Training out there.  At least, I hope that's what this is."

Hit a meaningless two-run homer in the 8th in a lost cause, then came out to pitch the ninth, giving up a two-run homer.

We're going to see a lot of this the rest of the way. The teams without bullpens -- either never had them or traded what they did have away at the deadline -- trotting out position players to finish up.

Javier Baez was gifted the homer in this case. In a lot of leagues, it will make a difference.

Unfazed by his snub, Scooter banged out his 17th big fly this afternoon to put the Reds into the lead, then drove in another run with a single in his next AB.

Marwin did even better yesterday, coming in to bat for Moran with the count 0-1 and belting a three-run homer with the team down by two.

Neither did Marwin Gonzalez in the AL.

I'm just noticing that Scooter didn't even make the final voting ballot for the NL All Star team.

Has anyone ever hit four homers, more than doubling his total this far into the season?

The third homer, to the opposite field, was on a pitch high and outside.

I reserved him on Tuesday morning.  I hate the timing aspect of roto.

Can't deny that tonight was totally lucky, but in my NL league I bought him for a buck in 2014 and he did fine for the three years I could keep him at a buck in that league. The waiver claim at the last minute left him under the radar in both my NL leagues, and got him for a buck in both, for position flexibility as much as anything. He had a hot first couple of weeks, and there was no reason to drop him in those deep leagues, mostly because he could be either an IF or an OF. Maybe he just rewarded my faith . . .

With Braun, Wong, & Prado on the DL I can thank my super-sub Gennett for keeping me competitive.  Bought him for $2 as my last player in the end game. I am glad I had that extra dollar.
