Brutal news, as Lewis is looking at surgery to repair a partially torn ACL in his right knee. We'll see him sometime after the All Star break next year if everything goes well.

Sent to the IL with a deep bone bruise. Further evaluation will be done once the swelling subsides later in the week.

Playing third base in Triple-A

Lewis will start at third base for Triple-A St. Paul on Friday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Lewis is a shortstop by trade, but that position is firmly blocked by Carlos Correa for now. He impressed in his brief debut while Correa was out with a finger injury, hitting .308/.325/.564 with a pair of homers in 11 games, but he nevertheless was sent to the minors upon Correa's return from the injured list. How often he features at other positions for St. Paul could give clues as to how quickly he'll return.

Gets the call to replace Carlos Correa who could be out for a while with that fractured finger. In Mixed Leagues he's going to cost a fairly large chunk of that FAAB this weekend.

Lewis (knee) received clearance for spring training, but he hasn't been able to participate in workouts during MLB's ongoing lockout since he's a member of the Twins' 40-man roster, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The lockout comes at a particularly inconvenient time for a player like Lewis, a top prospect in the organization who hasn't played an official game in affiliated ball since 2019. After he was unable to play in 2020 because of the cancellation of the minor-league season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Lewis missed all of 2021 after tearing the ACL in his right knee last February and undergoing surgery. The 22-year-old was at least able to prove his health by taking part in the Twins' final two Instructional League games in mid-October, according to Dan Hayes of The Athletic, but Lewis would surely benefit from getting in regular at-bats during intrasquad games this spring, even against minor-league competition. Unfortunately, because of his status as a 40-man player, Lewis isn't available to work out in a team setting, and he'll be ineligible to report to any of the Twins' minor-league affiliates when the season begins in early April if the lockout remains in place.
