Continue to make noise in the AFL.

Royce Lewis, CF, Twins. Lewis drove in two runs for Salt River as he continues his hot hitting in the Arizona Fall League. The center fielder hit a single and a double while also coming around to score twice as well. Lewis has already appeared a few times in center field for Salt River after having played the position just once for Double-A Pensacola this past season.

Lewis's Fall Stars homer was impressively powerful, hit on a line out of a substantial ballpark. That got out in a hurry, I said creatively. Lewis is impressively athletic, and impressively young. The scouts say he's a solid citizen and excellently athletic, but they're more concerned about his noisy stance at the plate. Like Jo Adell, he has a few different tics and timing mechanisms going on during each at bat. But if he does figure that out at the higher levels they see lots of power coming from a guy who can play middle infield, but may end up all over the place.

Homered, and was MVP, in the Fall Stars game. Still playing multiple positions, and hitting .407 as of 12 September.

And now, from Arizona...

Royce Lewis, CF, Twins. Lewis had one hit in three at-bats for Salt River. In the fourth inning, he cracked a two-run homer to left field. It was the second game in the outfield for Lewis, who had spent just one game in center field during his time in the minors. This new assignment could help Lewis add more value up the middle as an athletic defender who can play multiple positions.
