Occasionally, ever so occasionally, a reliever, it seems to me, should be included among Yesterday's Top Performers. For instance, last night in Anaheim when Raisel Iglesias came in to face the Mariners with the bases loaded, no outs, in the eighth inning, the Angels up 3-2.

1) Haniger fouled out to first

2) Seager struck out swinging

3) France struck out looking

Ninth inning.

1) Fraley flied out to center (shallow center)

2) Kelenic struck out swinging

3) Godoy struck out looking

Walks Betts, gives up a bloop single to Seager, protecting a 2-1 lead. Retires the next two and the Angels take two out of three.

Quintana started for the Angels, Bauer for the Dodgers.

I guess Jason Colette has never owned him; he paid $21 for Raisel last weekend.

I wonder who bid 20?

Probably two people who have looked closely at the Fangraphs stats and the percentiles (in their case at Baseball Savant). He was nasty.

He's another guy that, if you've owned him, you'd never suggest that he could be a closer on a "competitive" team ... especially if you owned him in 2019 ... those 12 "L"s were ... memorable ...

Am I dreaming that the Halos can be competitve this year with the addition of the two Iglesiases?

Iglesias is likely to pitch exclusively in save situations this season, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Manager Joe Maddon noted late last week that Iglesias could be used for multiple-inning saves in certain situations, but the veteran closer isn't expected to be used much in non-save situations. Iglesias has compiled 106 career saves and brings a level of stability to the back end of an Angels bullpen that ranked dead last in baseball with 14 blown saves last season.
