Chad Jennings for The Athletic:

Devers leads the majors with 83 extra-base hits (50 doubles, 29 home runs, four triples). It’s already the second-most ever by a Red Sox player before his 23rd birthday (Williams had 86 extra-base hits as a rookie in 1939). But Devers is chasing a milestone that requires no age restriction.

He’s on pace for not-quite 93 extra-base hits this season – technically on pace for 92.7 – but if he can get there, Devers will break Jimmie Foxx’s franchise record of 92 extra-base hits set in 1938 (when Foxx won the league MVP). David Ortiz came close to breaking Foxx’s record four times – he had 87 extra-base hits once, 88 extra-base hits twice and topped out at 91 extra-base hits in 2004 – but he never quite got there. Devers could do it in his second full season. According to Baseball-Reference.com, it would be one of the 50 best extra-base hit seasons of all time.

On a related note: Devers is also on pace for roughly 364 total bases, which would be a top 10 single-season total in Red Sox history. With 368, he’d crack the top seven and match the most total bases of Williams’ career.

Leading the league in hits, doubles, RBI, total bases, and caught stealing.  Last year's sophomore slump be damned.  He's been everything he was supposed to be.  He's not going to get to Earl Webb's record, but he could get into the high-50s in doubles, which would be really cool.

Joins the 20-club.

Warm-weather onslaught last night in Baltimore: seven homers, 23 runs.

You're right. Each homer will be worth less in the end-season formulas (the values here are based on 2018). What I'm showing as a $20 first half is probably an $18 first half. Something like that.

And we are just starting the warm-weather onslaught.

But will they have earned $40 or more once you recalculate values based on the HR onslaught?

Ten hitters are on a pace to earn $40 or more in 5x5 on July 1.

Cody Bellinger 27

Ronal Acuna 22

Charlie Blackmon 22

Freddie Freeman 22

Nolan Arenado 21

DJ LeMahieu 21

Trevor Story 20

Ketel Marte 20

Rafael Devers 20

Only two cheapies: LeMahieu and Marte. Devers was no cheapie, but earning serious money with his batting average and his legs is certainly a surprise.

I doubt he'll swipe 16 bases this year but he'll surely hit more than 24 homers.

His G/L/F and BABIP by month

May 39/25/37 .360

June 51/17/32 .338

Looking at his G/L/F, it seems like he's adjusted his launch angle to be less launchy.  Fly balls that don't go over the wall are outs.  Line drives are more likely hits.  His BABIP and Avg reflect how much better the change has been for his performance.

With his four knocks last night he pushes his slash stats to .317/.369/.520, his BABIP to .356. The big drop in K% indicates a conscious effort to put more balls in play.
