2013 Palin Comparisons:

C: Hundley 4, Montero 18
Cor: Hart 18, Headley 12, M. Young 24
Mid: Weeks 26, Rollins 23, Amarista 1
OF: Beltran 14, T. Snider 10, Ludwick 3, Maybin 15, Venable 5
UT Valbuena 2

SP J. Zimmerman 17, Latos 19, Haren 20, De La Rosa 2 Luebke 10
RP: Parnell 10, Brothers 1, Mujica 1
And: Casey Kelly 2

Reserve:
$15 - Brett Jackson
$10 - Ryan Wheeler, Christian Friedrich, Wilton Lopez
$5 - Rymer Liriano, AJ Ramos, Charlie Blackmon
$2 - Ryan Webb, Rafael Furcal, Brad Boxberger

Am I happy? Not really. I don't think I have enough offense or starting pitching to win. BUT, I do have a lot of middle guys I can cycle in and out and there's a decent chance that by the all-star break I've added Hart, Headley, Ludwick, and Luebke to my team.
Plus, if disaster strikes early, I have a bunch of decent priced S1s to offer in trades to re-tool for 2014. (Montero, Hart, Weeks, Rollins, Beltran, Ludwick, Maybin, Venable, and JZ are all expirings and all priced to help contenders stay under the cap).

So the draft had some high early prices then a lull and then stupid prices (16 for Heisey, etc).

Broken Chains entered with the worst or second worst keeper list of all and with too much money.

Goal -- Get Tulo and spend my money.

Here's what I bought:

Troy Tulowitski 47
David Wright 39
Hyun-Jin Ryu 16
Bronson Arroyo 11
Devin Mesoraco 10

At this point I realized I had miscounted my money (oops) by a lot and that I had $9 left.

Jonathan Broxton 2
Eric Stults 3
Roger Bernandina 1
Alex Gonzalez 1
James Darnell 1

Purpose of the reserve draft for me was to get 1 ML Hitter, 2 ML setup guys/MR, 2 minor league catchers, 1 best available minor leaguer, and 4 minor league OFers.

Dee Gordon -- Best available minor leaguer
Jerry Hairston -- A ML Hitter
Kyle Blanks -- minor league OF
Eury Perez -- minor league OF
JJ Hoover -- ML setup guy
Tommy Joseph -- minor league CT
Sebastian Valle -- minor league CT
Rafeal Ortega -- minor league OF
Marcell Ozuna -- minor league OF
Jeurys Familia -- ML setup guy

MISS: Evan Gattis went for $10 and I had hoped to get him.

Keepers:
Castillo 5
Frazier 10
Scutaro 12
Francisco 2
DeJesus 6
Pagan 17
Valdespin 10
Grilli 3
Hamels 30
Lynn 13
Detwiller 4

Most estimates are 40 to 50% inflation so it will play big I suppose, but where it hits (top, middle, everywhere ...) that will be interesting.

Don't apologize, keep us posted. I'm very curious to see how the hyper-inflation plays.

PCL members .. please get in the draft room early to make sure your browser works. Looks like at least five haven't tested it.

Sorry for the house keeping message here, but something broke on the league email.

Another thing I like to do for fun is to write down a prediction for the players I'll get both in the reserve and the auction.

Usually get two or three right out of ten.

Can't say it too often ... one way or another, tomorrow will be ugly.

After that the league will stabilize and you'll start getting a good number of people you actually want to bid on being available each year.
