He won't be affordable this year (pardon me; still next year) if the five picks, no pans in the Guide have anything to say about it. All note his age and the kind of numbers he was on course for without the injury.

Trump was a figure of mirth back in May, wasn't he, Peter?

Now only Andy's laughing.

But he's so deep into his football leagues, I'm hoping I can say that without causing a ruckus. I'm not trying to start one!

THE TEENS: Nick Castellanos was listed in this position last year, because he’d earned $14
each of his first two years, and seemed ready to break out last year. He in
fact did break out last year, but earned only $15 because he missed about 150
plate appearances due to injury. He should still be affordable this year, and
young enough to hope that the gains he made in power last year will lead to
better strike zone management and contact this year.

I don't own him in that 4x4 league, he was frozen, but I do own him in Tout H2H and he's been great. I should say, Great! But there's no way that can continue. I wish there was. #bummer

Two more hits this afternoon. He even drew a walk.

The Expert League praces were 14, 13, and 16, so $17 is a little aggressive. I would expect to own him, but I'm in a 4x4 league with Alex, so it could get hairy.

I guess the good news is that the bids are pretty much endorsements, and likely to get him.

I'd add as a concern that in the games Detroit plays in NL parks, it's looking as if Castellanos may be benched so they can keep Victor Martinez in the lineup - with Miggy moving over to 3rd.  That's not a ringing endorsement of Castellanos' lineup security.

That said, he's only 24, and he hasn't been overmatched by MLB pitching, even if he hasn't dominated yet.  It's a reasonable bet that one of these years he'll have a breakout season that makes 15-17 look conservative.  It's just the guessing which year ...

Are these bids a little aggressive?  He seems to be a late rounder, or, translated, more in the $10-12 range.

I'm optimistic (and so are the Picks in The Guide) but I'm also looking for a deal.

Didn't see many lefties (only 114 AB) but feasted on them when he did (.970 OPS, .656 v. RHP).
