In Baseball HQ's Friday newsletter:
Tampa Bay Rays 2B Brandon Lowe (leg) was placed on the 10-day injured list Thursday, July 4, due to a right shin bruise. 1B Nate Lowe and RHP Jacob Faria were recalled from Triple-A Durham. RHP Austin Pruitt was optioned to Durham. Source: Tampa Bay Times - Marc Topkin
BHQ take: It's believed to be a 10-day Lowe-for-Lowe swap, after Brandon fouled a ball off his right shin, which would bring him back to the active roster during the first series following the All-Star break. He's the owner of a fortunate .276/.241 BA/xBA split in 2019, as his 38% h% is outpacing his 63% ct%. The LH-batting Nate was on fire in AAA-Durham during June, slashing .326/.455/.573 with six HR in 89 AB. Nate is expected to return to Triple-A once Brandon is ready, unless 1B Ji-Man Choi (left ankle strain) is not ready by then. —Matt Dodge
Impact: Low
