From a Roto perspective, I wonder if the message is to avoid paying for young pitchers or top prospects. While I don't have the stats, my hunch is that a 29-year-old starter (who maybe had Tommy John when he was 22) is a better bet to stay healthy for the season that the kid whose 99 mph heater makes everyone swoon.

While the depths of Mike Marshall will probably never be understood, I was talking to my buddy today and we got into a great conversation after the terrible news on Kopech. Shouldn't baseball executives stop drafting pitchers, and grab via trade or Free Agency? It's such a crap shoot. For every Sale you get 100 Luke Hochevar's.

Sorry...Off my soap box.
