His jersey states Native Americans, his beanie honors the Cubbies; but he is representing the SD Friars in fine fashion.  An endearing contradiction, no doubt.

baseballtradevalues.com sez ...

Indians get Total Value: 34.60

Padres get Total Value: 38.90

Plus this caveat in the comments ... Note: We docked Arias a bit because he is Rule 5-eligible this year. Clearly if Cleveland is trading for him, they’ll add him to their 40, in which case his value will go up to 11.3. That fills the gap here to make this one even closer, to 38.0 going to the Indians.

Padres To Acquire Mike Clevinger

10:28am: The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reports that the final deal will send Clevinger, outfielder Greg Allen and a player to be named later to the Padres in exchange for Naylor, Quantrill, Arias, catcher Austin Hedges, minor league left-hander Joey Cantillo and minor league infielder Owen Miller. Bleacher Report’s Scott Miller adds that the PTBNL is likely to be minor league reliever Matt Waldron.

Wow ... that is A LOT ... hope the post-season is fun :-)

The best summary I've seen so far is ... Give volume get quality

Tue, Aug 25 - The Indians will call up Mike Clevinger to start Wednesday against the Twins.

Currently in time-out, Clevinger was demoted on August 14 after violating health and safety protocols along with teammate Zach Plesac, but he's been staying sharp
at the team's alternate training site. There's naturally some hard
feelings in the Indians' clubhouse, but it was likely just a matter of
time before Clevinger would resurface. The question is whether this will
function as a showcase start in advance of the upcoming trade deadline.
The struggling Adam Plutko was previously lined up to start on
Wednesday, but Clevinger is obviously a huge upgrade. The 29-year-old
will return to a 3.24 ERA through three starts.  (Rotoworld.com)

More on Indians' vets reacting to Clevinger and Plesac's actions...

Despite their production, 39-year-old left-handed reliever Oliver Perez said he would leave the team if Clevinger and Plesac returned to the roster in Detroit, sources familiar with the meeting said. Other players, sources said, felt similarly. Shortstop Francisco Lindor, the four-time All-Star considered the heart of the team, was outspoken as well, sources said.

The most critical issue, sources said, was the breach of trust. While Clevinger and Plesac have tested negative for COVID-19, the potential exposure of the team to the coronavirus -- including pitcher Carlos Carrasco, who was treated for leukemia last year -- frustrated the team.

Wow, today after both Clevinger and Plesac participated in a team meeting, they were both optioned to the alternate training site.

Good for the Indians, taking a stand.  Bad for Plesac, who could lose out on the potential for Super 2 status.

And we Astros fans say to "Sunshine" Clevinger that he can stick it, well, you know where.

The difference between Plesac and Clevinger is Plesac was stupid, while Clevinger was as you put it Bob, a selfish ass. Plesac drove himself home in a rental vehicle while Clevinger took the flight. I wonder how Carlos Carrasco feels about this situation?
