Merrill just wanted us to all remember who he really was last night. Single handedly took me from 1st to 3rd. Early season outings (good or bad) have an outsized impact.

We all have our lackluster days.
05.18: Merrill Kelly surrendered eight runs on five hits over two innings inTuesday's loss to the Dodgers. (The Diamondbacks handed Kelly a 2-0 advantage heading to the bottom of the first inning, but he dropped it almost immediately, yielding a two-run single to Trea Turner. Things only devolved from that point onward, with the Dodgers plating five more runs in the second inning, three of which came home on a three-run homer by Edwin Rios. Kelly finished out his short outing having struck out two and walked four. He'll carry a 3.27 ERA (jumped up from 1.71), 1.27 WHIP and 40/15 K/BB ratio (44 innings) into a road outing with the Cubs next time he toes the rubber, as he looks to rebound from Tuesday's lackluster effort. )

Merrill Kelly (P) AZ - May. 11
https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=15800
Kelly pitched five innings, surrendering three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out two in the loss to the Marlins on Wednesday. He did not factor into the decision.
ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Kelly gave up a two-run homer to Joey Wendle in the first inning and then an RBI single to Jacob Stallings the next frame. The outing was his shortest since his first start of the year April 8 and the two punchouts were his least of the season. After posting four straight quality starts, a stretch where he produced a 1.63 ERA and 0.98 WHIP with 21 strikeouts over 27.2 innings, the streak was snapped Wednesday.

Quality Starts are a dime a dozen this year. But a complete game? Merrill's would have been the third.

In April there were five reasons to love Merrill Kelly. His worst start was a Quality Start.
May 1
He went for $5 in LABR and dropped to $1 in Tout, so what I know is, AP4 has to come down.
I enter the expert league prices in the program (Peter happily lets me) because whenever I see my bid is much higher or much lower, I tilt up or down, but I missed Merrill Kelly.
I tilt because it's quite possible the combined wisdom in the room knows something I don't know. That's the main reason. But there's a second reason. Even if I'm in love with a player no one else loves, I only want a bid limit that is high enough to get him. No reason to overdo it and get all giddy when I do get him. There's always the possibility the room is right and you're wrong. (I can tell you, way back in the beginning, when I allowed myself to get into a bidding war with one other owner -- a particular owner who also loved the rooks -- and I insisted on winning the war, I was invariably sorry.)
I like Merrill Kelly but there's certainly no reason that I can see to love him. I've changed AP4 to $5 and I'll keep an eye on him from now on in case that's too high.

In the latest update I'm up to $3. I like Kelly, he can pitch, but he's not dominant enough to sustain good outcomes. A streamer is what he is. LABR paid $5 for him, and also in the latest update, Tout Wars paid $1.

Alex, what do you know about Kelly that the others don't?
