Matthew Boyd (P) DET - Jun. 18
https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=786020

Boyd (triceps) is dealing with muscular tendinitis and won't return before the All-Star break, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Boyd was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday. Although several doctors seem to have ruled out structural damage, the team will give the southpaw extended time to recover to make sure he's fully healthy when he returns. Matt Manning and Wily Peralta could remain in the rotation while Boyd and Spencer Turnbull (forearm) are sidelined.

Boyd was placed on the 10-day injured list with left arm discomfort Tuesday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The southpaw will be further evaluated in the next 24 hours, so it's still possible he'll be given a more detailed diagnosis and return timeline in the near future. For the time being, he'll miss at least his next turn through the rotation. He'll be eligible to come off the IL on June 25.

Agree Rotoman, and not just because I own Boyd.

Boyd left tonight's game with an injury. Discomfort, which sounds mellow, but let's assume the worst. He's a member of my ADL staff, a delightful bunch, but I'm not rueing the injury. I'm highlighting the Wins rule. The game isn't over, but here's the box score:

How can any Tiger pitcher (and there were a lot of them) more deserve this win than Boyd. He pitched the most innings, got the most outs, struck out the most. Allowed the fewest runs (tied). This shouldn't be No. 1 on baseball's list of things to fix, but why not? It's the easiest.

If the starter doesn't go the full five, but leaves with a lead that his team never relinquishes he should be awarded the Win. Maybe an exception is necessary for a reliever who pitches more innings and also doesn't allow runs. Whatever, give the win to the pitcher who does the most to secure the victory.

I love pitching days.  I have so many guys going today.  Teams 1, 2, and 3 noted below.

Boyd 1, 3

Ray 1, 3

Richards 1, 2

Heaney 2

Bieber 3

Dunning 3

Should be interesting no matter what happens.

No consolation for me. I watched my Boyd win melt away in the top of the 9th, then watched my Barlow lose in the bottom of the inning. Where do the Tigers send Boyd to relieve his misery and mine?

My fantasy consolation. I have Boyd and Soto. A team effort.

Imagine having the Tigers' bullpen and defense behind you. It's got to be the worst feeling in baseball.  He left up 7-0 in after 6 great innings, returning from injury. The Tigers gave up 3 in the 8th and then 4 in the 9th before even getting an out. They made errors, they missed playable balls, and then they won in the bottom of the 9th.

Matthew Boyd (P) DET - Apr. 29

https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=774263

Boyd was pulled from Thursday's start against the White Sox due to left knee tendinitis.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Boyd exited the game after completing only one inning and throwing 36 pitches. It's positive news that he did not suffer an arm injury, though it remains unclear if he will be forced to miss additional time.

I think we can call this a Rotowire PICK. One of the contributors to the Rotoman Special looks at much of the same stuff and, well, here it is...

Phil Hertz PAN: Lots of good things on his resume, but they’re trumped by his actual outcomes.
