Note to self: in future, demote any pitcher starting in the UK.  Must be thin air.

Both teams missed the extra point.

The first shutout by a Yankee since 2013 in the House That Gatsby Built.

I think I heard that after the game last night. It's been a while, at any rate. In three starts against the second best team in the division, he's pitched 22 innings, allowed one earned run, and it's fair to guess the Yankees have won all three (he's 2-0). You could say he's the biggest single reason the Rays, who now trail by 1 1/2, are the second best team

A four-pitch seventh inning.

How many three-pitch innings have there been?

Cruised into the fourth inning up 2-0 against the White Sox yesterday. Departed with no outs in he fifth and the bases loaded, down 4-2.

On the third Monday of the season, the Yankees and Red Sox have a combined 12-19 record. They are 2-4 against the AL Central, 2-9 against the AL West and 1-2 against the NL.

The saddest part of the list are the two who died in automobile accidents in the DR.

John Sickels reviews his Top 100 prospect list from 2014 at The Athletic. Tanaka is No. 1. It's a pretty fun and successful list, remember when? But the best player on it ranked No. 74 that year.

He's really good against a quad-A lineup.

We have him, and can keep him at $18.  May or may not.  I think the $11 tentative bid noted by Rotoman late last year gets Tanaka in ZERO leagues of decent size and depth.
