Questions about what's going on here.

Welcome! You are invited to wander around and read all of the comments that have been posted here at Patton & Co., but as soon as you register you can see the bid limits that Alex, Peter and Mike propose for each player, and you can post your own comments. Registering is free, so please join us!

Subscriptions end today. But please don't sign up for another year before we post the new software (still scheduled for tomorrow) on the Subscriber page.

Why?

Because we don't want to start collecting money until we decide what to do if the season is seriously delayed.

On that grim note, happy Valentine's Day!

While looking at Rotowire's projected rotations and bullpens, I posted the most recent comments for selected pitchers (some key, some not so much). The comments were interesting snapshots, I thought, at the end of last season and into November. A reminder of what was as we wonder what's next.

Today I'll do the same looking at Rotowire's projected lineups, see how that goes.

Big local Houston news today...  the AAA affiliate Sugarland Skeeters will be rechristened the "Space Cowboys."  Cue "The Joker" and invite Steve Miller to throw out that first pitch.  If not available, maybe Clint Eastwood or Tommy Lee Jones can sub in.

Got a new modem today-- hurray! -- and with it the e-version of Baseball HQ's Minor League Analyst. Also in my email: Baseball America's Top 100 Prospects. So should be a fun afternoon. More than a few people here, I'm sure, started reading the Analyst at 6 AM, switching to Baseball America at 10:22.

My internet crashed yesterday and after talking to a robot or two or three, followed by humans doing a fair impersonation for an hour or two or three, I  now wait for a human to come up the driveway on Friday with a new modem. Or gateway, as Xfinity now calls the thing. Until then I'll be dark in the darkest days of this very dark winter.

Each day I'll go to a coffee house to read the latest on the lockout. Fortunately, that will be quick.

In the meantime I count on the winter faithful to keep the home fires burning!

All of last year's comments are in the archive and all of this year's first comments for hitters are, alas, wrong. I've been talking about it as I post further comments, and what "it" is -- do I sound like Clinton? -- is explained under Vlad Guerrero. I'm posting a short note here to say that, starting yesterday, each time I add a comment I correct the 2021 HardHit% in the Statcast scans. I've just done that for two Cubs of yore, Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo. Both hit the ball hard (95+ mph) more often than they did the year before.

We've turned the page. All of last year's comments are in the 2021 archive.
