You said it, TMU. Has allowed more home runs than walks in his career which must be extremely rare. Why would anyone take a walk when the whole world is a .479 slugger against him? In my Vegas draft he went before Tim Hudson.

The buzz on Slowey is substantial for a guy with this track record.

He went for a crazy $23 in my 11 team 5x5 (OBP) league. As a point of reference I got Peavy for $26. Jered Weaver also went for $23. This was the league with 36% inflation (for above average pitchers) that is referenced in the Pavano thread.

Slowey went for $9 in Tout Wars this weekend. That's more like it!

Got to watch him pitch today and there's one big problem with the Radke comparison; Slowey's fastball tops out at 86. He threw an 83 MPH brushback against Pujols, with first base open and a one-run lead, and at the end of that AB the Cardinals had a one-run lead.

I have zilch in the way of freezes this year, so it's a question of which toppers to keep. Slowey's one of many possibilities. It's going to be a tough decision. He gave up some hits today, but he looked pretty good. Except on the gun.

First he has to show in spring training that he's healthy, then his price can go shooting up. In the meantime we will try to resurrect the 160 IP he tossed for the Twins in 2008.

There's no way Slowey goes for this little this spring, for all the reasons I outlined below.

If he proves healthy his 5x5 bid is going to have to go up and he's going to need a 4x4 price regardless. Missing his 2008 Major League stats.

I've always loved this guy. I'd love to sneak him this year. I'd even pay for him. Radke was a staple on my rosters for years.
