Not surprisingly only 4 of those 13 are in the top 50 in lowest walk rate. Pitchers that challenge hitters in the zone more are generally going to have a higher exit velo on average bc they take on all comers instead of pitching around to batters they would rather not face.

Four Dodgers.  None named Kershaw.  Or Buehler.

The 13 lowest average exit velos (min. 50 IP) at the break:

Julio Urias 83.0

Kent Maeda 85.2

Martin Perez 85.9

Anibal Sanchez 86.0

Hyun-Jin Ryu 86.2

Ryan Yarbrough 86.2

Mike Minor 86.3

Jose Berrios 86.3

Eduardo Rodriguez 86.3

Noah Syndegaard 86.5

Charlie Morton 86.5

Rich Hill 86.5

CC Sabathia 86.5

Three repeats from "barrel %" leaders under Fried: Perez, Ryu and Syndegaard.

Eight of the 13 are lefties.

Urias throws his fastball 61.5% of the time and it averages 95.2 miles per hour.

There's a surprisingly large ERA variance for the pitchers listed here, from Ryu (1.85) to Syndegaard (4.68).

Three innings last night against the Cubs for save No. 3. You don't see many of those anymore and you never see a pitcher, any pitcher, go three innings without a strikeout, but that's what he did. One of his 41 pitches was swung at and missed.

Good for him.

Before we get the pitchforks out, Bleacher Report says 'the woman denied a physical altercation' while talking to police, but also notes that according to TMZ, video seems to back up the witness accounts.

Clearly this is going to need a few days to sort out.

JULIO URIASRP, LOS ANGELES DODGERS

According to TMZ Sports, Dodgers left-hander Julio Urias was arrested Monday night in Los Angeles for an alleged domestic violence incident.

The alleged incident took place at Beverly Center, an upscale shopping area. According to a witness, Urias was arguing with a woman in the parking lot before shoving her to the ground. According to A.J. Perez of USA Today, Urias was arrested and transported to downtown Los Angeles before having his bond set at $20,000. The Dodgers and MLB have yet to issue a comment on the matter. The 22-year-old Urias has appeared in nine games with the Dodgers this season.

Notched save No. 2 and lowered his ERA to 3.18 with three scoreless last night. He picked up one of his wins in relief. In five such appearances he's pitched 8.2 IP, walking two and striking out ten. Dave Roberts after the game: "You look at what his ability is and you look in the bullpen, you could argue he's our best arm."

His first save last night, setting down the heart of the Braves's lineup in order. Freeman lined out to right on the first pitch he saw, a 94 mph fastball. Acuna looked at strike three, a 95 mph fastball, after fouling four pitches off and taking three for balls. Markakis grounded out on a 1-2 pitch, a 96 mph fastball. All told 14 pitches, ten for strikes, three pitches that weren't fastballs.

Julio Urias (P) LA - Mar. 22

Manager Dave Roberts said Friday that Urias could begin the season in the starting rotation, Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times reports.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Dodgers have maintained all spring that Urias was set for a bullpen role -- despite Clayton Kershaw's shoulder issues -- but with Rich Hill now headed for the injured list with an MCL strain there appears to be a change of plans. Both veteran left-handers are slated to begin the season on the IL and have no set return dates, forcing Ross Stripling and Urias into the starting mix, at least for the short-term.

Julio Urias (P) LA - Feb. 27

Manager Dave Roberts said he hasn't ruled out the possibility of Urias opening the season in the Dodgers' rotation, Ken Gurnick of MLB.com reports. "The door's open for him," the skipper said.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Roberts suggested earlier in the month that no rotation spots would be up for grabs during spring training, but he seems to have changed his mind following Urias' impressive Cactus League debut. The young left-hander fired a perfect inning against the A's on Wednesday, striking out Matt Chapman on three pitches to finish the frame while sitting between 94 and 97 mph with his fastball. Clayton Kershaw (shoulder) is also dealing with an injury, which, depending on the severity, could potentially open up another path for Urias to break camp in the big-league rotation.
