Juan Yepez (1B) STL - Jun. 26
https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=14891

Yepez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in a 6-5 loss to the Cubs on Sunday.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Yepez joined in on a hit parade off of innings-eater Alec Mills, belting the Cardinals' third home run of the third inning. That was all the damage it took to chase Mills from the game, and Yepez now has seven home runs since being called up on May 4. The 24-year-old rookie first baseman is slashing .318/.304/.545 over the past week and continues to prove that he is ready for an everyday role in the big leagues.

Both him and Alek Thomas are owned in my 12-team NL with minors, but not in my one without, because you can't draft guys who started the season in the minors.  I put in bids for each but won't get either, because some will go hog wild with our 130 of FAAB.  Even though the inseason cap of 310 (ie, 50 over the initial cap of 260) is designed to inhibit stockpiling high salary players. Once you put down 30 or more the player has to stick and produce over the course of the year to justify the cap space and the FAAB, because with no reserves (other than DL players and those send down), there will be a churn of players every week.,  I remember Ike Davis doing so for me last decade, but more often than not they don't and get cut sometime down the road.

FWIW, went for $21 and $24 in two of my leagues this morning.  At $25, you are required to keep the player the next season.  Highest competing bid in either league was $15.

As of Saturday night, these were his rostered levels. "CBS: 15% rostered, ESPN: 3% rostered"

In three ten team NL only leagues and he is available in all.  No bench in any of those leagues and given that he wasn’t ranked as a top minor leaguer prospect, wasn’t taken in any leagues.

Hard to believe he isn't owned in any deep league.

For leagues where he is available, what % of FAAB do you think he eats?  I say 15-20%

The problem is Gorman has no place to get everyday at-bats. The Cards can't take Edman out of the lineup, he has been outstanding, and Pujols is at the least platooning at DH. The poor play of Carlson gave Yepez his opportunity. It will take a move of Edman to short, and that has been rumoured based on DeJong's poor play, or an injury to open up a spot for Gorman. The second you see Edman at SS, Gorman will be up and playing everyday. Until then....we wait.

He should have the shot at being the DH.   Gorman and Yepez should be up and playing.

Yepez gets the call and is batting fifth today. If he brings some of that power he produced at Memphis this year (9 HR in 86 AB), he could be around for the long haul. Dylan Carlson is riding the pine today and could be heading to Memphis to get his game in order.
