In BA's prospect report...

Cincinnati Reds

Jose Garcia collected a hit in three at-bats and scored once in the team’s shutout win over the Pirates. The 22-year-old shortstop has collected a hit in four of the last five games to raise his average to .211 in 57 at-bats.

Jose Garcia launched his fourth HR of spring training on Tuesday as he remained with the big league roster through the final day before play was halted. Garcia finished the spring with a .269 batting average, .300 on-base pct., 4 HR, 7 RBI, and 1 SB. He has been one of the most impressive and talked about prospects all of spring training. The Athletic did a very nice piece on him this week. If Garcia is still available in your league, you should do everything you can to make room for him on your roster. Kid is going to be up in 2021 as the Reds' starting SS. He's the real deal.

Hit a 2-run bomb Friday and finished with three RBIs. Now batting .444 with three HR and six RBIs. Not a bad start for the youngster.

Baseball America was at that game too. In today's Prospect Report:

Jose Garcia, SS, Reds — One
of the most intriguing risers in the Reds system in 2019, Garcia tore
up the Florida State League relatively anonymously. The 21-year-old hit
.280 with 37 doubles, which led the Florida State League and tied him
for fifth in the minors. He socked two home runs on Tuesday against big
leaguers Keynan Middleton and Cam Bedrosian. He's an excellent defender
as well, so if his bat continues to play he could rise even higher on
the Reds' Top 30.

#93 ... Say a glove that can stick at SS, and "reason to believe he’ll get to 15-plus homer power at his peak, with high batting averages and doubles power. "

Two bombs today. One off Kenyan Middleton in the 5th, then another off Cam Bedrosian in the 7th. Keith Law has him in his top 100 rankings but I can't seem to find out what number he's ranked. Anybody got a subscription The Athletic that knows? I value Law's opinion. I know some people don't like him, but I think he's very smart.
