And it took like half an hour for Baldelli to realize it.

Maybe it's just me, but Baldelli seems to make a lot of dopey decisions, mostly bullpen related.  And I tend to be less critical of managers, whom I assume have more information at their disposal than I do.

Called on to pitch the 8th with Twins down 7-4, he gave up a homer to the first batter, Luke Maile, and things got worse from there. The score was 11-4 when he left.

Sure looks like he's run out of gas.

Except for those of us that count.....nope, not going there today!

Gets his first hold -- to the chagrin of those of us who have him.

Here it is. Could have been a lot worse.

New York Post:

Twins acquire All-Star closer Jorge Lopez from Orioles

By Jeremy Layton

The Minnesota Twins have acquired closer Jorge Lopez, an All-Star in 2022, from the Orioles in exchange for four pitching prospects, The Post's Jon Heyman reported.

Lopez, 29, has operated as the Orioles' primary closer in 2022. He has a 1.68 ERA and 19 saves on the season.

In exchange, the Orioles will receive Cade Povich, Yennier Cano, Juan Nuñez and Juan Rojas, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan. All four are pitchers, and all are currently in the minor leagues – though Cano made 10 appearances with the Twins' big league club this season.

The Orioles have been active sellers at the deadline, previously sending Trey Mancini to the Astros.

Bad news, most likely, for me. Like the Monkey, I thought he'd stay with the high-flying Orioles. He's put me in the hunt this year and I'd have him next year for $2.

Rotoworld:

08.02: Andy Kostka of The Baltimore Sun reports that the Orioles are "in the process of" trading closer Jorge López. (Kostka
doesn't specify where López is headed, but it sounds like a deal is
nearly across the finish line. The 29-year-old right-hander earned his
first All-Star Game appearance this season and has converted 19 of 23
saves as Baltimore's primary closer.)

The Monkey rolls out its annual buy/sell after the All-Star break.

AL East
Baltimore Orioles — Shockingly, the Orioles enter the All-Star break at .500 and just 3.5 games out of a playoff spot. If the Orioles remain in contention, it’s unlikely they trade closer Jorge Lopez, who has two years of club control left after 2022. If they do have a fall from grace, the Orioles may look to move Lopez while his value is sky-high. Stay tuned. BUY/SELL: None.

Ninth straight win for the Orioles.

07.13: Jorge Lopez struck out one in the ninth on Tuesday to lock down his 17th save of the season against the Cubs.  (Topping
out a 99.1 mph with his sinker, Lopez retired the side in order on
Tuesday. He threw just 12 pitches, and got Nico Hoerner to lineout to
end the game.)

Fanned Tim Anderson and Andrew Vaughn on seven pitches to get the save in 4-0 win.

The beautiful W-Sv combo, as Lopez and Bautista have provided me a lot of value so far.
