Ned Colletti confirmed that both Pederson and Alex Guerrero will be called up in September. The at-bats probably won't be there until the division race is settled, but in Pederson's case they probably should be.

BP sez ...

Joc Pederson, OF, Dodgers (Albuquerque, AAA): 2-4, 2 R, HR, BB, SB. Even high-priced teams like the Dodgers need cheap production from young players, and Pederson is the best, and one of the few, internal options who could provide such production. Still, it’s going to take at least one, and possibly two, salary-dump moves to create room for him. If the Dodgers want to add to their lineup down the stretch this season, the major league-ready Pederson is by far their best trade chip. Pederson also homered on Saturday as well, just to put to rest any lingering doubts about his shoulder injury from a few weeks ago.

My biggest worry is that he'll get traded to the AL. Those in NL only leagues should consider that before acquiring him in a dump trade.

He didn't want to take the spotlight off his young teammate. That's the kind of guy Olivo is.

Just for the record, Miguel Olivo did not hit for a "super cycle" yesterday ...

lol ... Miguel Olivo also has almost 4000 MLB plate appearances, and has seen anything any of the AAA kids who are pitching against him has to offer many, many times in the past. Even Baxter has over 400 PAs in the majors, not to mention another 1200 at AAA.

And that said ... 1.447 OPS is still 30% better than what Olivo - with 146 career major league HRs - has put up.

Olivo's OPS is 1.144
Mike Baxter's is also over 1.000.
So no.

Are you impressed by a 1.447 OPS after 12 games?
