Luzardo hits the IL with a forearm strain. It's such a shame he can't stay healthy. Cody Poteet gets the start on Monday. I was hoping, more like dreaming, that the Marlins would give Eury Perez a shot. He's sporting a 27/3 K/BB rate in his past three starts. If Poteet doesn't get it done, Max Meyer or Edward Cabrera are likely next-in-line. No timetable has been established for Luzardo's return.

Another good start by Luzardo, this one qualifying as a Quality Start. Six IP, two H, one HR, two BB, five SO, one run. Lowered his ERA to 3.10, WHIP to 1.08.
Before we get the stat feed, his BABIP is .400, G/L/F 29/32/39.

Those walks are hard to overcome, especially in 4 x 4.

He's looked great this spring. Kind of guy years ago you might be able to sneak for $2-3 who will go for $8-10 if you're drafting this weekend, and maybe more if someone calls him out early and at least two people have been paying attention.

Will be an interesting battle for the 5th slot in Miami behind Alcantara, López, Rogers, and Hernandez. Luzardo has 2 options left - and it wouldn't shock me if the loser of the battle between he and Sixto ends up starting the season in Jacksonville.
It would seem that Luzardo - who had <80 innings in each of AA and AAA spread over multiple seasons - could use some more minor league time to figure out how to use that 95+ mph fastball - which had a massive negative value last season (-20 wFB).

Seems to be the type of guy you want to see in the spring before you invest too much. A shortened spring training is going to push the auction dollars towards more of the surer things.

ERC (Handbook's component ERA): 6.12.
xERA (Forecaster's expected ERA): 4.98.
The Handbook thinks he got pretty much what he deserved on the ERA front. The Forecaster thinks he's the biggest ERA Underperformer after Andrew Heaney.
His nemesis clearly was too many free passes, including at Las Vegas.
He'll be cheap but he won't be free. On the last day of the season, against who-knows-who on the Phillies, he fanned 11 in five and a third innings. Six hits... zero walks.
The ump might have helped with that. The Phillies undoubtedly did. But he showed the arm that Kim Ng was looking for when she shipped Starling Marte to the A's just before the trade deadline.
