Struck out swinging all three times he faced Kershaw, then struck out swinging against Pedro Baez. In 12 innings the Brew crew sent 44 batters to the plate. Two of them walked, 26 of them struck out.

Baez struck out five in two innings, Dayton struck out everyone in his inning, and Jansen struck out four in his two innings. That comes to 12 strikeouts in five innings, a slightly better rate Kershaw's 14 in seven innings.

But they're relievers; they don't hold back.

Jesus Aguilar's first-ever MLB home run Thursday was a timely one, putting the Brewers ahead in a game they would hold on to win 5-4 over the Cardinals.

Aguilar stepped to the plate as a pinch-hitter in the seventh inning and drove a Matt Bowman pitch out to left-center for the solo shot. It was his first career homer in 60 games at the major league level. His time in the bigs may soon come to an end -- the Brewers aren't going anywhere, and despite his strong spring Aguilar is hitting .238/.289/.357 -- but nobody can take Thursday away from the 26-year-old.

$1?  He went for $9 in our auction last Friday ...

And not because there was nothing else to buy.  People were waiting for him.

I think he's better than a Quad-A hitters, but I've thought that of a lot of Quad-A hitters who were in fact Quad-A hitters.

My hunch --- which is different from an expectation -- is that he and Thames will do a lot of damage between them.

I don't have much confidence in Thames based on what I've seen (I could be wrong of course), so I do have Aguilar on my UT position sights.

Anyone buying him in the end game?  Rather have him or the likes of Aybar?

Fun Fact: In Little League, he played next to Tanner Boyle as the 2nd Baseman on the Bad News Bears.

I checked the DOB to make sure we have it right. We do.

It just seems that he's the same age as Thames.
