Homer Bailey (P) CIN - May. 2

Bailey (elbow) will be shut down for a few days after suffering a slight
setback in his first rehab start Thursday, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports. The
Cincinnati Enquirer adds that Bailey and the Reds believe he's dealing with a nerve
problem. “I was getting some weird feelings in my fingers,” Bailey said. “So that's
what kind of let us know it was a nerve as opposed to the ligament or a tendon
or anything.”

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: The Reds' plan is to rest Bailey for at least a few
days, and possibly a week. Once the soreness in his arm subsides, he'll likely be
cleared to resume throwing again in some capacity. The Reds have not provided an
updated timetable for his return to the rotation, but an activation in the second
half of May appears to be the best-case scenario now.

Homer Bailey (P) CIN - Mar. 22

Bailey (elbow) threw live batting practice Monday, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Bailey threw 20 pitches in the session, and reported
that everything felt normal afterward.  The plan for the 29-year-old is to throw a couple
more live batting practices before eventually working his way up to a simulated game
by the end of March or beginning of April.  The righty underwent Tommy John
surgery in early May last season and is targeting a return just over 12 months later
if all goes as expected.
