The Yankees thought the same about Tauchmann.

I think the moral here is that you can't judge a young player by 200 scattered ABs in the big leagues. Alberto, whom I never thought to claim even as an Oriole fan, was stuck in my head as a no-hit utility infielder based on things like his .143 batting average in 56 ABs with the Rangers in 2016. But far more relevant was the way that Alberto kept hitting .300 in the minors, albeit without much power and no speed. I'm not saying that he will hit like George Sisler in his prime (.420 with 8 HRs in 1922), but I will be curious what Alberto goes for next year, especially in 4x4 leagues where .BA matters more.

Worth noting that Hanser Alberto is also in contention for the batting crown in the AL.

Anderson .333

LeMahieu .326

Alberto .320

Who pays attention to batting average anymore?

Me!

Let's let Rotowire give this guy a long overdue comment:

Hanser Alberto (3B) BAL - Aug. 31

Alberto went 5-for-6 with a double, two runs scored and two RBI in Friday's 14-2 rout of the Royals.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It's the third multi-hit performance in the last five games for Alberto, while the five knocks established a new career high for the infielder. He's slashing .368/.402/.600 through 26 games in August, and he's added a little pop to his profile as well -- four of his 10 homers on the year have come during that stretch.
