Possibly the most unusual game a closer has ever had. Gossage starts the 7th inning of a 5-3 Yankees lead, blows the lead in the 9th, and gets the win in the 13th inning pitching a total of 7 innings.

Goose Gossage

P.S. the guy that he replaced as closer that year, Sparky Lyle, entered the game with 2 outs in the 3rd and pitched 3.1 innings.
