If he plays seven more games, it says here he'll steal seven more bases.

MLBTradeRumors puts it this way ...

11:24PM: Season-ending shoulder surgery “would be on the table” for Tatis if he doesn’t show improvement during his 10-day IL stint, Tinger told The Athletic’s Dennis Lin and other reporters.  However, Tatis is intent on playing again this year.

He's old.

Is Stark crazy? He doesn't think Tatis is the first-half MVP.

Actually, I agree.

NL MVP of the Half-Year: Jacob deGrom, Mets

In a regular old year in the life of our planet, could I talk myself into voting for a guy who’s on pace for the first 50-homer, 30-steal season in history? I could.

Could I justify voting for the league leader in homers and steals and OPS and runs created — especially when that guy is a magnetic, 22-year-old, up-the-middle force of nature? It wouldn’t be hard. You know, the only player who has ever led his league in all four of those departments in the same season was Ty Cobb — 112 years ago.

But then a GM connected to neither Tatis’ nor deGrom’s teams talked some sense into me.

And I appreciate what FTJ is saying!

Vlad Jr. said that after he participated last year he was spent and had a hard time early in the second half.  Tatis Jr. is saying his shoulder injury is too high a risk to participate.

I wonder if the two youngsters were advised by their dads to take a pass?

Rotoworld:

06.28: Trevor Story said Monday that he'll participate in the upcoming HomeRun Derby. (Story hasn't exactly been lighting things up from a power perspective this season, but it makes sense that he'd participate with the All-Star Game taking place in Colorado. He'll join a group of confirmed participants which also includes defending champion Pete Alonso, Shohei Ohtani, and Trey Mancini. Fernando Tatis Jr. and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. have already said that they will not take part in the competition.)

Tatis went 2-for-4 with a home run, a double, two RBI and two total runs scored in Wednesday's 8-7 loss to Colorado.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Make it four homers in the last five games for Tatis, who blasted a moonshot off Colorado starter Kyle Freeland in the third inning Wednesday. The superstar shortstop is up to 21 homers, 28 RBI, 47 runs scored and 13 stolen bases through 219 plate appearances this season. His recent power surge has happened on the road -- Tatis has homered just once in his last seven home games. San Diego opens a four-game home series versus Cincinnati on Thursday.
