Thread: Doubt Wars

Very low maintenance! We trash talk here.

Welcome! You are invited to wander around and read all of the comments that have been posted here at Patton & Co., but as soon as you register you can see the bid limits that Alex, Peter and Mike propose for each player, and you can post your own comments. Registering is free, so please join us!

Today is the final full day before Doubt Wars rosters are due ... get 'em in!

The idea is to beat the Touts at their own game. Not game the rules to beat them at a different game. And in this case the prices are set based on what the Touts paid according to the rules they play by.

I can see going without IP limits in 5x5 and letting the chips fall where they may. But they won't look that much like baseball. It is a choice however.

I am not a fan of any kind of limits. Let people do what they want to. If everyone starts taking advantage of it, then the market will adjust.

And in this case, people will start paying more for middle relievers who aren't the closers-in-waiting, like they probably should have in the first place.

Everyone's heard of the $9 pitching staff (Labadini?).  I think our league record is $23.  It wasn't all that bad.

I already have my Doubt Wars team in, but I will officially post my 'clever attempt' team here today or tomorrow and check back in a few months to see how it compares.

Doubt follows Tout rules, calling for 950 innings. If a team buys starters and doesn't get all the way there for some reason, we don't penalize them. If you buy all relievers and don't make it, your entry won't be counted. But it will be recognized as a clever attempt.

I'm not sure you could win it all, but you could give it a run by spending $220 on hitting and $40 on this pitching staff:

Vizcaino, Familia, Leone, Boxberger, Edwards, Madson, Swarzak, Minter, Barraclough.

My general understanding is that Doubt Wars has no such limit/rule ... just the reality that if you don't have a strong and balanced team with lots of quality ABs and IPs, you won't win.

The Tout Wars Constitution says it's 950 for Tout, so I'm assuming it's the same. You also need 4200 ABs to count in OBP.

Someone should lower them a little for Doubt.

Is there a minimum IP for Tout/Doubt?  Want to make sure I'm playing properly.  Tough with no transactions even to ensure 1,000.
