Rotoman, thanks for all your work in setting this up. Doubt Wars was great fun, even in May when I was in 17th place. But I figured I would be better once Brantley and May and Kela got going. Right. Jose Ramirez and David Ortiz are co-MVP.

Doubt AL standings are posted at toutwars.com. Neaux-Blesse Oblige takes the title. Congratulations David!

Will try to get the other done in the next day or two.

Just popped in quick to check on my Palin Doubt Wars team and I found this interesting:

The team called 'Syndergaarden Cop' is in dead last and at the bottom of most pitching categories. Why? Because he doesn't have Noah Syndergaarden.

I'm just the messenger ... Mr Doubt Wars probably extended the deadline because many entries are still not in :-(

Is this an April fools thing, Howard?

I hope it is, because I really shouldn't be messing with my Doubt Wars team today.

I just saw this at toutwars.com ...

We’ve extended the Roster Entry deadline to April 2, some time in the evening. We’ll keep it open as late as we can, and everyone can jigger their lineups until closing. but we’re going to close on Saturday night.

[email protected] is AWESOME compared to the rudderless ship that CBS seems to be.

Our American League 5 X 5, $260 Auction was last night and
here are some highlights.  We play OBP
with 23 man rosters, 4 reserves, and up to 8 minor leaguers can be held with 3
rounds selected each year.  We can freeze
up to 10.  I froze 8.

My strategy was to buy one of the top four starting
pitchers.
  Fill out my pitching with
cheap or moderately cheap starters, “punt saves,” buy lots at bats that should
result in runs & RBI’s and not forget stolen bases.
Did it work? Yes and No.

My team (8 freezes with *):

Y Gomes                   11

A. Avila                         3

Trumbo                        22

Sano*                            5

B. Ho Park                    21

Odor *                           7

B. Miller*                       9

Desmond                    21

N. Cruz*                      31

Cain*                            13

Gardner                        31

Gordon                        22

Aoki                            15

L. Martin                        8

Porcello*                        5

D. Duffy*                        5

Glausman*                    5

I. Kennedy                    8

Buchholz                       8

Aa Sanchez                  8

Tillman                           2

T. Duffy                           1

Bassitt                            1

The 5 top starters available and their prices blew me out of
the water and I could not pull the trigger:

D. Price           50

F. Hernandez 43

D. Salazar       40

C. Hamels       38

J. Zimmerman
29

After missing out on the quality starter to anchor my staff
I concentrated on hitting and filled my line-up with the middle class—vanishing in
Rotisserie Baseball as well as in America .
None were great values but they were not terrible either except maybe
Brett Gardner (chasing solid steals) at $31 or a flyer on Byung Ho Park at
$21.

By the way the top hitters available went for:

M. Cabrera     53

J. Bautista       47

J. Upton          44

R. Cano           44

C. Gomez         40

C. Hosmer       35

T. Tulowitzki  35

T. Frazier        34

I should have a decent OBP, lots of runs and RBI’s, and
enough homeruns to be competitive.  The
speed is better than I hoped for.

The grand experiment is can the middle class compete with no
star hitters and a $41 pitching staff made up of cheap starters.

The issue with my access got fixed by someone at [email protected] ... I thought I posted this update, but I must not have saved it?  It's a busy/noisy time :-)

Bottom Line: I'm IN at Doubt Wars!  THANKS, Peter, et al, for letting us play along!
