This was my play in my N.L. only. We have four farm picks. While others were taking guys in Low-A ball who were B-/C+ prospects, I grabbed Bernadina and Schafer. Picked up 3-4 steals points, and if not for the Schafer injury probably would have done even better for myself.

Interesting find today while I was looking at statistics for players who were on NL major league rosters and players who were FAABed/minor leaguers.

The top 168 hitters from opening day rosters totalled 1997 HRs and 1337 SBs. Looking at significant players (80+ at bats) who started in the minors or the AL shows they contributed 137 HRs and 237 SBs.

Is that a sign that players called up from the minors can contribute more significantly to SBs (especially hustle SBs) or just an anomaly of this season. Five players had 22 or more -- Gordon, Schafer, Young, and Campana. Bernandina (a very predictable SB factor who I should have taken) added 17.

@SeaDogs - Mike G. has written some great pieces on contracts and extensions over at our blog.

As a ballplayer, Bourn is a huge asset in the field, while Gordon is a liability. But his monster September at the plate (.372/.398/.451) will buy him a lot of leash.

If he can keep the numbers going then he's the second coming of Michael Bourn which is a nice player to have on your team. My next consideration will be how much to extend him from 10 since I drafted him as a minor leaguer in 2010 and carried him over to my home team in 2011.

It seems he's still tangled up with Derrick Gordon (who I merged him with back in June). Eventually we'll get it straightened out.

Still a problem here, Alex. Maybe it's looking for Devaris?

We now have his ID but still aren't getting the feed. Some sort of glitch that probably won't get fixed right away.

But congratulations, Seadogs. I'll tell you what he earned when I have adjusted the formulas for this year's final stats. (The formlulas that we are using now are based on the 2010 stats.)

Need his stats still.

Thanks, Dee, for providing the steals when Reyes stopped running and helping me win my home league.

I've got a beer bet in my regular league that Campana outsteals Gordon next year.
