We now are showing minor league pitching stats. Not for everyone -- far from it -- but for all the pitchers with BIS IDs in the Fangraphs files.

He's having another strong start tonight, this time against the Astros.  Since he's come back to the majors he's done really well.   His K rate hasn't been good. But, he's been really strong on his change of speeds and has induced a lot of grounders.  Having a major league defense behind him has surely helped.  It probably helps having Perez calling the game for him too.

Rotowire:

Fans seven in win
August 5, 2021
Lynch (2-3) allowed one earned run on four hits and two walks while striking out seven across five innings, earning the win over the White Sox on Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Lynch's only damage came in the first inning on a solo home run by Jose Abreu. He shut out the White Sox over the next four innings. His seven-strikeout performance is a career-high and it's just the second time he's allowed less than three runs in a start this year. The rookie has a 6.00 ERA and a 1.59 WHIP with 20 punchouts in 27 innings.

I didn't watch any starts, but his hits to innings in AAA showed that he either had really bad luck, his defense was porous, or he served up a lot of hittable balls.  Considering his K rate the last one seems like a strange option.  He also gave up an inordinate amount of HR. Perhaps that's Omaha's park, or maybe it's bad luck too.

He was ready today. Eight scoreless. Five hits, no walks, four whiffs. G/F 13/6. Only 96 pitches; with a clean ninth, would have had a near Maddux. Looked relaxed, didn't waste time between pitches.

I don't know about the team that dropped 51 on him in CBS, but he's no longer on my team in the ADL. I kept a spot for him week after week on my seven-player reserve roster, then finally let him go when his ERA ballooned to 5.84, his WHIP to 1.61 after 11 starts at Omaha.

Actually, I think his ERA was close to seven when I let him go; he probably put it all together in his last start.

Tomorrow we find out if I have enough FAAB to buy him back.

It was strange that they waited until he was able to pitch in AAA, but never assigned him there.

Bubic looked good, though.

What did they see at the alternate training site that made them think he was ready?

Mistake.

A maybe yes, maybe no debut. 74 pitches, 46 for strikes. On only seven did batters take a hack and miss completely. As we see by the G/L/F, good contact was made. His four-seamer topped out at 96, got slower as he went along. Sliders ranged 85-87; looked less than lethal as I watched the condensed game. He showed a changeup and curve.

Pretty much the opposite of what I expected when, after thinking long and hard (I have no place to go but but down in the qualitatives but need innings), I activated him yesterday. The expectation being he'd be great or he'd be terrible.

Daniel Lynch's account of the game: “I felt like I could barely see, I was so juiced up. It was just a really amazing experience.”

I think I have to give him another chance, don't you?
