2021 line is painful to watch. The BABIP is brutal but so is the walk rate. The K rate is more like his first two seasons rather than his two great seasons. Probably related to a previous shoulder injury. The question remains what happens next year. Buying opportunity in roto or still too hyped to be a great bargain?

Bellinger is not in the lineup Tuesday against the Cardinals, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Bellinger is 0-for-10 with three walks, three runs and seven strikeouts in three appearances since returning from the injured list Saturday, and he'll take a seat for Tuesday's contest.

This weekend? This weekend?? It's only Tuesday!

Cody Bellinger (1B) LA - May. 24

https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=780093

Bellinger (lower leg) went 1-for-4 with a solo home run for Triple-A Oklahoma City versus Albuquerque on Sunday.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: In his second game of a minor-league rehab stint, Bellinger crushed a solo shot to deep right-center field in the first inning. He has gone 2-for-8 with a pair of RBI with the Triple-A squad as he prepares for his return to the majors. Bellinger could rejoin the Dodgers as soon as this weekend.

Cody Bellinger (1B) LA - Apr. 16

Bellinger recently underwent tests that showed a hairline fracture in his left fibula, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Manager Dave Roberts said that Bellinger had plateaued in recent days, which prompted his most recent tests. Roberts said that the issue is "not a day-to-day thing," and it's not yet clear when Bellinger will be able to return to game action.

From the Athletic today:

InjuryMailbag

Bellinger is on the IL with what the Dodgers have called a left calf contusion. This indicates it is more of a deep bruise than a strain, which I hope is the case. Calf strains are one of those tricky injuries that tend to linger.

Bellinger was involved in an awkward collision at first base as he tried to leg out a grounder. He was spiked in the back of his left leg by the pitcher trying to cover the bag. Our algorithm is considering this a grade 1 (mild) calf injury. It should heal within three weeks, although I expect him to return to the lineup sooner than that. Bellinger isn’t dealing with any structural damage or fractures, so he just needs time for any swelling and stiffness caused by the contusion to dissipate.

The Statcast xBA formula seems to say his BABIP was unlucky. I agree.

Cody Bellinger (1B) LA - Mar. 18

https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=766005

Bellinger went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Thursday's Cactus League contest against Arizona.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Bellinger played the entirety of the seven-inning game, giving the Dodgers a short-lived lead with a solo blast in the top of the seventh. The 2019 NL MVP spent the first half of camp ramping up after offseason shoulder surgery, but he has gotten into two games this week and appears on track to be ready by Opening Day.

As I'd said before - I relied heavily on Peter's bid targets when doing CBS.

Result - none of the high end hitters - Blackmon and Pham (at 23) were my two most expensive hitters.  Just kept passing on the Bellingers et al who seemed to go for $5-10 over tic.

A nice group of high end starters - much more than I'd usually buy - but it was because I was willing to pay close to tic for older studs (Scherzer 29, Kershaw 25, Strasburg 21)*.

Comparing to Peter's target prices - the cumulative was great - +52 for hitters, +10 for pitchers, leading to $322 worth of Peter's bid value for the team.

When I compare to Tout, I end up +2 for my CBS bids versus the Tout Bids.  In particular, Tout penalized the older starters even more - Scherzer/Strasburg/Kershaw went for 62, versus my CBS 75 (and Peter's 77).

But thanks to budget moderation, there was money left for mid-lower end middle infielders - my $2 Villar went for $12, my $15 Gregorius for $19.  Meanwhile Starlin Castro went for $11 instead of $3, Segura for $20 instead of $8, Rodgers $13 instead of $4, Newman $6 instead of $1, Hoerner $7 instead of $2.  That's $53 worth of catchup over 8 players.
