Christopher Morel, 3B/2B, Cubs: Morel continues to be a bright spot in the Cubs rebuild. The 23-year-old rookie went 2-for-4 with a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored to lead the Cubs to a 6-3 win over the Nationals on Monday. His home run off veteran Anibal Sanchez left his bat at 109.4 mph and traveled 399 feet into the left-center bleachers at Wrigley Field. Morel is now batting .263 with 10 home runs, 31 RBIs and nine stolen bases in 63 games this season and is firmly solidifying his place as a part of the Cubs future.

His third homer in three games, a two-run shot in the sixth, ties the game; the Cubs score another in that inning on a wild pitch, and lo and behold, that's the final score: Cubs 6, Red Sox 5. The last time the two teams played in Wrigley was 2012.

I'm tempted to jump on the hot hand, but Morel is young without upper minors experience. Moustakas has been painful for a while now, but I suspect he'll be better.

Rather gamble on him or hang onto Moustakas?

Quick start but his long term hit tool would indicate he's going to struggle for average in the bigs.  Perhaps they unlock something new. I bid him to 11 last night (lost a tie breaker) despite his long term record because he could be a 20/20 guy as well if he can learn to walk enough to offset his swing/miss tool.

Up from the depths, touching them all.
