Terrible news. Just awful. It seems like every single year.

He's already matched his total number of LD from last year.

Then again - what's more likely by the end of the season -

Buxton .451 BABIP

DeGrom .261 BABIP against

It won't shock me at all to see DeGrom's BABIP within 10 points of the current at the end of the year.

It won't shock me to see Buxton with a BABIP 100 points lower than his current by the end of the year.

Phil Ponebshek Texpope

Buxton has already made a number of incredible diving catches as well as a few leaps to rob doubles, if not homers, at the top of the fence.

I said it on Opening Day. The caveat still applies.

Don't forget about dWAR ... he's got 0.5 of that already!

Has Buxton really been better than deGrom?

I think he has.

Doesn't The Yerminator have to be the AL POY candidate list? :-)

Buxton needs to draw more walks ...

5-5 today with a HR, 2 doubles, and a SB.  if not for Trout and maybe Vlad Jr., he'd be running away with AL player of the month. He's had a few nagging injuries already, so this is like dancing with the devil.

Byron Buxton (OF) MIN - Apr. 21

https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/player.php?id=772402

Buxton went 3-for-6 with a double, a two-run home run and a second run scored in Wednesday's 13-12 extra-inning loss to the A's.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: It looked like Buxton had given the Twins the win when he took Lou Trivino deep in the top of the 10th inning, but Minnesota's infield defense fell apart in the bottom half of the frame. Buxton continues to rake when he's in the lineup, and through 12 games he's hitting .432 (19-for-44) with six homers, one steal, 10 runs and 11 RBI.

He walked. It's going to be a career year.  He then stole second uncontested.  A walk, in the first game. It's either the sign of the apocalypse or this is the year.*

* Unless he crashes into the CF wall.
