Except for playing time, this year looks like a solid step forward for a future Hall of Famer. Absent the injuries the bids might not have been far out of line.

And I hope we have Manny and Bryce dogging each way for years to come in the Baltimore-Washington rivalry.

He's not in Trout's class. He may have more raw power and he's taken a step forward in terms of strikezone control this year, but he better be careful. Macahdo is gaining on him in career WAR. 8.2 for Manny, 8.5 for Bryce and Manny's played 45 fewer games.

It turns out he's not going to outperform Trout this year but he gives better sound bites.

Was he surprised after he took Teheran deep last night (passing Ken Griffey for the third most homers hit by a player under 21)?

"Uh, I hit that ball pretty far off him. So no, not really."

Surprised or not, did he consider charging the mounf?

"Nah, I wasn't going to go out there. I mean, 14 1/2 games down, and I need to be in the lineup."

I think he could go through what Rambo did in First Blood, go grab a bat and homer.

Goes deep in his first at bat returning from injury. Wow.

The homer off Bumgarner today makes me a little better.

Everyone was at fault in the excruciating loss in San Francisco last night. The coaches should have had Harper positioned better, Harper should have caught the ball anyway, and Soriano shouldn't let Gregor Blanco make like he's Joey Votto.

The stand-up guy in the whole fiasco? A guy who's 20.

0 for 2 so far today and a .146/.280/.293 slash line in May.

Pure speculation, but I really hope he does not have long-term concussion symptoms (which his agent and GM have vehemently denied, despite the continued nausea...).

I wonder if Harper was actually bunting for a hit but was given a sac anyway for advancing the runner.
