I'm working on Big Prices for the Guide. Today I have Brad Hand with a price of $13. What do you think?

I am very happy with the trade ... hoping Mejia hits ... hoping he can play defense somewhere ... seems most likely to be a catcher ... they will likely give him chances in OF and 3B ... but, since I'm in Corvallis, OR and he's in El Paso, TX, I can't see him play any position :-)

Save #2 in an Indians uniform last night.

The Tribe gave up a lot, but getting both Hand and Cimber was so wise.

I can't see Mejia catching...what do you think Howard?

I got him for $24 ($100 FAAB budget) in my old school 4x4 AL-Only home league on Sunday night.

The next highest bids were $21.

I bid $24 because I do believe he will get a chance to close for the Indians this season, and with Allen and Miller both pending free agents, I expect he will be the closer in Cleveland in 2019. He's a keep at that salary in 4x4 if he is named the closer next season.

A team in our league just dropped $105 of their $200 FAAB budget on him.  He would be keepable for next year at $15 (4x4, AL only).

Allen is on the ropes. I think Hand is going to get a chance.

Coming to Indians. Back of the bullpen just got good. And Miller is getting close to a return. Hand arrives with Cimber, who will see some Yankee right-handed batters.

Hand is owed $14.5 mil for the next 2 years, plus a $1 mil buyout if they don't want to keep him for $10 mil in 2021.  He costs only $4 mil this year.

$7 mil next year would be about 12% of San Diego's payroll unless they spend a lot more.

I'd think a team with a mid-4's ERA for their starters (in THAT park) would be kind of happy if someone came along and gave them at least one quality prospect in exchange for helping them realign their budgeting priorities?

From the Monkey's take on the market in the NL for closers as we wait (forever) for games to begin again:

San Diego Padres – For the second year in a row, Brad Hand is the subject of trade rumors. It seemed very likely Hand would be traded before last year’s trade deadline, but it didn’t happen, and then he signed an extension in the off-season so that he is under team control through 2021. His asking price will be high again this year but teams might be willing to pay it this year. The Indians are interested and the Yankees have checked in on both Brad Hand and Kirby Yates. If Hand is dealt, he could close, but it is probably more likely that he would be used as a versatile reliever similar to how Andrew Miller has been used. We will put a sell on Hand and a buy on Yates since he would take over as closer if Hand is dealt and he isn’t.
BUY: Kirby Yates; SELL: Brad Hand.

WAR went down (two hits), saves went up (No. 22) last night.

Wouldn't it be interesting to play in a league based on fWAR? And have a parallel league (same players) using bWAR?

A recipe for going crazy.
