Signed through 2022, and the trading of Ruiz ensures he'll be the quintessential $1 catcher for another season.  In a good year he'll provide you a $5-10 profit, in a mediocre year (like 2021) he'll basically break even.

Closer Monkey:

Los Angeles Dodgers — Kenley Jansen’s struggles may not be behind him — he gave up a two-run homer last night before striking out the side — but his fantasy owners might just want to keep an eye on who’s catching when they set their lineups. With Austin Barnes behind the plate, Jansen has been nearly perfect; when Will Smith catches him, it’s the wild, wild west.

Hierarchy remains: Jansen | Treinen | Kelly.

Barnes went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in a 1-0 triumph over Colorado on Saturday.

ROTOWIRE RECOMMENDS: Barnes went deep off Colorado starter Kyle Freeland in the second for the game's single run and provided two of only seven hits in the contest. It was the backstop's first home run since June 22 and he's now 5-for-9 over his last three games.
