I think the Indians valued Bauers as the near equal to today's Adam Jones, only much younger and cheaper (and unfortunately a lefty). If they were wrong, this may be a tough summer unless they can find an outfielder with power who can hit at least near the middle of the order. Cargo seems to have something left(y), but once you get past the top four in the order, chances of anything exciting are slim, which must be a joy for opposing pitchers.

Right now, Adam Jones would look good, but it's only April. Also, the Indians said they were working with a budget, and I don't know when Jones' price dropped as low as he signed. That's certainly not the number that was attached to his name on any media list during the winter.

With three more hits yesterday, he outproduced Bauers, Naquin, Allen and Luplow, who between them had three hits.

Cargo hit a homer. But that's four against one, no fair.

The Indians have no corner outfielders who can hit and that includes Bauers who has now moved to 1B.  I don’t understand why they didn’t sign anyone.  Adam Jones cost only $3M for one year.  Bauers, Naquin, Allen, Lupow, and Cargo have combined for 3 HR and 8 doubles.  Adam Jones has 5 HR and 6 doubles.  He likely won’t outproduce them all season, but it is possible.

I’m sure there still must be an OF free agent who could help them more than who they have.

Nothing is cooler than watching Adam Jones tear it up.  I hope he hits 40 dingers.

Went for $8 in NL only dynasty league last night.  Bigger surprise was Braun for $9.  On the other side of the coin, Alonso went for $21.

I'm glad he's off to a great start.

I can't believe that he's already 33. How do I manage to never get older than 39?

Batted Leadoff in his first official game as a D-Back and he homered and singled.

The things about Jones that don't get into the scan above:

He's a great teammate.  He would always take rookies out to dinner and help them pay expenses until they get their finances in order.

He gives of his time and his money to charity in the local community.  It's his true belief and not PR.

He is disappointed in baseball's efforts to recruit and encourage participation among inner city youth.

You have perfectly described Adam Jones.
