Another oddity from the 1979 season- 2 pitchers in history have had at least 15 losses and 15 saves in the same season(Gene Garber and Mike Marshall) both in 1979. Marshall also had double figure wins that year.

I played fantasy football once. I thought it might be interesting. It wasn't. Two days of football and five days sitting around waiting for stuff to happen? Pass.

Oh yea, well this one time in our football playoffs, the other team's kicker missed an extra point and - Oh, crap, I'm becoming 'that guy' (as if I already wasn't).

And the last time I hope. September is my favorite month, the one I point toward starting in March. My league, a great race last season that seemed to change daily seven deep, is in a tight battle again. One year, on the last day of the season, the fate of the last batter determined the winner. Football? What's that?

I seem to recall (just going off the top of my head), that Matt Keough in 78-79 went 28 straight starts without a win. But then my great-grandpa reminded me that when he was a boy, Cliff Curtis of the also went 28 straight without a win during the 1911/1912 seasons. Ok, that wasn't off the top of my head, it was from an article that talked about Jo Jo Reyes having a chance to tie the record last May. In the search, there wasn't anything about Reyes breaking the record, so I went to baseball reference and found that in fact Reyes did tie the record, but then he won his next start. So, it's 28 straight, held by three guys. Dear God, please let football start soon. |

Anyone know what the record is here? Seems to me he must be getting close.

Agree I "can" have him. I'm trying to decide whether to burn the roster slot at all. The $-10 is meaningless to me since I play 5x5, where he's not likely to crush you. Of course, neither are most guys who manage 160 IP. Trying to decide if the Cubs will give him that. As Tex says, at his age there's a chance for growth and the price can't get much better. |
