Pearce goes to the outfield, it seems, though it doesn't look like that will be with the big club in April. That's good, if true.

Doumit's hitting skills are advanced for a catcher's, but the clock is ticking. And since he's not a stellar catcher, the ticking is getting louder.

As long as he qualifies as a catcher he's a good pickup in any situation, but I wouldn't pay $4 for him in an NL league. $2 tops is the price. The injuries and his lack of status mean he could quite quickly fade away.

Frankly I think you should leave Doumit behind the plate and leave Pearce in AAA rather than rush another prospect up.

Good health is a "skill," and he does not possess it. Also, Steven Pearce needs somewhere to play this year. $3.

Fenger and I came up with the same bid limit on Doumit. First I had him at $9. Then I looked at his numbers and moved to $8. Now that I am looking again, I might move to $7. By draft day, it could be 6. The career minor league OPS above .800 is encouraging, and, frankly, he did what he was supposed to do at 24 in AAA - dominate pitching.

Maybe $8 is ok.

Yes, scratch the "very." I was getting a little carried away there. But for now I'm going to leave my bid limit at $6, because that's how much I like catchers who don't catch. Who are good hitters.
