going into this week I lamented my wasted depth of corner infielders in my deep mixed

Motivated to act, I traded Votto for Cano. Sandoval went down the next day, and Billy Butler won't qualify at 1B until interleague play(if you believe Yost).

So I went from Adam LaRoche sitting on my bench to my only 1B, Chase Headley becomes my only 3B, and I have to FAAB a CI(hope I get Middlebrooks).

So LaRoche sits with an oblique issue today.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue.

Same injury, other hand.

Almost a year to the day ... sigh. Looks like counting on 450 at bats might be his max going forward.

santa's as reliable as they come, but he only takes the field every 365.25th day, so its hard to vote for him for MVP.

So then Santa would be a good pick

Not only weight related, but also extreme emotional stress with sick mom and ugly divorce. A jolly fat man can hit, a miserable distracted one might not.

I don't buy the notion that 2010 was weight-related at all. Far more likely, indeed obvious to me, was that he swung at too many bad pitches. Of course he is a hacker, but his pitches per PA was back up last year to the 3.5 range from the 3.25 of 2010. He was just as heavy in 2008-2009. So the battle lines are drawn...

Howard Bender wrote a piece for the 2012 Fantasy Guide about incorporating real world info into your game. He doesn't have a solution to the problem of partial information, but notes that a little info can be helpful if we are aware of it.

Pablo from 2010 is one of his examples. I'm glad SydThrift shared his training routine, since we know what's true.

And as someone who was burned by Sandoval's 2010 I'm not quite as confident as Gene that he'll keep raking after the gelato has settled.

Well I'm glad he's fat, he was getting a little too popular. Fat guys who can flat hit, there's been a lot of them.

I am a huge Sandoval fan, but this news in concerning. Sandoval says it's 25 pounds of muscle, but from a guy who has spent an obscene amount of time in the gym, has a wife who is a nutritionist and has studied the science, I know that is not possible (unless, of course, he is juicing). Syd was being funny, but he is probably close to what Pablo's caloric intake was per day in the offseason.

Would this impact my bids? Absolutely. Sandoval is no Prince Fielder.
