As my wife read the paper in bed as I flipped between my home town network for the Orioles and the Rays game on ESPN, she shrugged when I jumped off the bed when the O's tied, and scoffed when the O's beat Papelbon and the Red Saux. "Why are you still watching the Orioles?" was the question her eyes asked. Then, flipping back over to the Rays, BJ Upton struck out. But the crowd roared. Longoria came up and I told her he's going to hit a HR and send the Rays to the playoffs. She nodded. When he did I was jumping in the air. I've had him his entire career in my league. I won't have him next year. Last game for the Freedman's Bureau and he goes out with a bang. My wife claimed not have heard me predict the HR. |

Ayala served him a meatball and he didn't miss it. Now Mariano has to pitch the ninth. Yanks know who they'd rather face in the second round. |

As I just posted in another thread (Walden), he went for $33 in the American Dreams on Saturday. Inflation maybe pushed that up $3. But the point is, I wouldn't look for a big discount this weekend.

He's 25 and has gotten better every year. The minor injury last year kept him from earning more. He's one guy worth going a little above what he'll earn because it's almost a foregone conclusion that he'll be worth it and you have to pay where the risk is smaller.

Alex still looks a bit cautious with Longoria. He safely earned $32 last year even with a power outage in the second half. His earnings have steadily progressed each year.
