Wow, as a Dmitri Young fan, I must object to bringing up Dukes in the same comment! | |

2 years off just means 2 years without PED testing. He'll probably hit 40 HR in the first half. Then, as tex pointed out, he'll fade badly in the second half as those roid muscles begin to get flabby and he reverts to his cheez doodle diet. Who's next? Elijah Dukes? |

Let's calm down on Dmitri Young for a minute. The Phillies already have a bench that includes Jim Thome, Ty Wigginton, Michael Martinez, Brian Schneider and Mayberry/Nix, depending on who is playing 1B/OF that particular day. That doesn't even leave room for Juan Pierre, never mind a guy that hasn't played in major leagues in a long time. This is "options" for the Phillies...no harm in a minor league deal / look see. |

Interesting play. It seems to me from the past that guys who take a year or so off and then come back often get really hot right off the bat, then fade hard in the second half of the season. A hot first month by Dmitri would be a perfect way to carry-over the Howard rehab, and then him playing only one or two times a week after mid-May could keep him fresher. |

Trying to make a comeback and getting a serious look from the Phillies. He's dropped 75 lbs and supposedly has his quick hands back. |
