Well the 12 K/W looks nice :-) Everything else looks horrible. Would anyone out there in AP land touch this guy as a buy low right now? I'm a Nats fan, as well as a longtime Haren guy... would buy just about any rationalization. Just having trouble coming up with one. |

I have always been a big Haren guy, but boy, I have been struggling trying to put a bid on him. Got knocked around again yesterday, and his velocity is still down. I don't put too much into spring stats, but I worry he is not fully recovered from the back and hip injuries last year. I am pretty sure you will not be able to get him for less than Peter's and Alex's prices, but I am not sure even I would push him past that. |

I have Danny Haren 46th, barely perceptibly higher than Shaun Marcum.

I agree that who he faces throughout the year will be random. I just meant that he's in a rotation where he isn't expected to be The Guy. Maybe that removes a little pressure...maybe not. Regardless, I still like him this year. |

The worst run support per 9 IP last year (a proxy for facing the better pitchers in the rotation more) were Josh Johnson and Anibal Sanchez. And the top group was full of No. 1 starters and others. I won't say Eugene has nailed it, but I agree that the No. 1 thing (and the No. 4 thing) is way overblown. |

After the first week of the season and perhaps the first week after the all-star break, what does rotational slot matter? It's not the playoffs and with variable days off and some teams going with four the first few weeks while there are more days off, you don't necessarily face weak sisters as a team's #4 or #5. You just face a random pitcher each time.

The back problems appear to be behind him (ba-dum). I really hope he gets a lot of negative press in a lot of fantasy mags because even tho I'm not interested in paying top dollar, I am betting on a rebound. Great team, NL, nice slot in the back end of the rotation. Any Picks or Pans in the ever elusive 2013 Guide? Pitched really well at the end of last season. |

If healthy he will more than effectively fill that rotation slot. If he's not, the contract won't happen because it's pending physical - presumably for insurance purposes.

Signed a one year deal with the Nationals worth $13M. He effectively replaces Edwin Jackson.
