I think he only got 4 because it was accidental.

I don't think he's throwing at him. It's just Lawrie getting eaten up on a bad hop.

And I'm not remembering who actually has the job. Joe Torre?

I see the helmet hitting in the :34 clip.

The umpires union is dead. This guy will be fired. Or reprimanded. There's lots that goes on. But on this AB this guy failed seriously. And still, Lawrie shouldn't have hit the ump with thrown helmet.

If I was Frank Robinson I'd give him 15 days in the pokey. I think Don Baylor sees it similarly.

Sorry about that just cause standard. It's far too fair for most to understand.

But isn't umpiring a union job? If so, you can't fire him based on job performance.

Sorry. Can't threaten the umpire. thought he'd get more than 4, and think he deserved it.

Unless evidence is there that the ump made those calls intentionally, then I assume he gets low marks for that game, and that goes towards his end of year evaluation. Which is to say, it could affect his career a lot more than 4 games if it becomes a pattern.

4 games. And I'm sure the umpire gets nothing for blowing a call and being a jackass. At least he got beer thrown on him. Guess that's enough punishment.

Visions of Roberto Alomar. Same stadium, different uniform.

Helmet definitely hit the ump. Very clear here at the 34 second mark.

Question remains to be seen: how many games?

He's not a Bad K, so I give him the cold eye. Also, I totally missed him, fooled by the Brewers' willingness to let him go.

Are we sure the helmet hit the umpire? I haven't read the stories today, but from the outfield camera last night it looked like it did, but from the first base camera, maybe not. Could make a big difference, though his willingness to get up in the umps face might be more important than any technicality.
